CFR - Any shout-outs to athletes (either mentors who you know personally or anyone in the industry at large) that have inspired your riding?
Mason - I grew up watching Sledneck films, Thunderstruck & Schooled Again, all with riders that really fueled my fire from a young age, knowing it was possible to make a living doing what you love!
CFR -What’s cool about the dirt bike trails and terrain in your neck of the woods?
Mason - Right in my backyard, we have some of the coolest single track around. We ride all the way up to 11,000ft with some crazy views and amazing terrain!

CFR - You like to launch yourself up very big hills! What makes hill-climbing so special?
Mason - Hillclimbing bikes for me is one of my favorite adrenaline rushes! You get to hold your bike wide open while also making split second decisions that can make or break you making it through the timers as fast as possible.

CFR - You’ve done a lot of competitive hill climb comps on both dirt and snow. It seems so intimidating. How would a beginner get started on the competition scene?
Mason - If you are curious and have interest, take the shot and talk with other people in the community, because we are one big family and love when new people join!
CFR - What are some similarities between hill climbing on a dirt bike vs a sled? What are the main differences?
Mason- Main similarities are that the events are timed & you must stick between 2 flags or you are disqualified. Big Differences: Sleds are much heavier and require more energy to control than dirt bikes, which are much lighter and easier to maneuver. I will say hill-climbing sleds is probably the most physically demanding sport I have participated in.

CFR - Any beginner or advanced tips or skills for a dirt biker who wants to tackle bigger hill climbs?
Mason - If you really want to get into big hill climbs, get a set of extensions for your swing arm and start hitting hills you'd never think of. You will be surprised how far you go!

Mason - The future of dirt biking for me is to continue riding at a pro level and finding steeper untouched hills that I can conquer with my skills and knowledge. Teaching my 3-year-old son the ropes, as he is already off to a fast start! I am also very passionate about my business, Limitless Riding Clinics, as I get to share my skills and passion with other riders who are looking to improve their riding and backcountry knowledge!
